In your article you talk about people with aphantasia being able to see mental imagery but you don't say whether or not they can control, to any extent, what they are seeing. I have "full" aphantasia (I'm unable to imagine any of my senses at all). I do, however, get visual "images" on occasion, usually just before going to sleep and sometimes (rarely) very realistic 3-D imagery just before fully awakening. In both cases, though, I have no control over what I see – I'm an observer with no agency.
